Ford hybrid got more torque than specified

My bro has been beating the bushes for dyno numbers, but does anyone else feel like the hybrid's got a bit more torque than Ford's letting on, even with that eCVT power curve?

It's an open secret that car companies often lowball their figures. They'd rather over deliver than have egg on their face by falling short.
This is just my gut feeling, plain and simple, comparing it to my bro's car and my Maverick XL EB 360.
Ford says 173 lbft combined, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to 200. Anyone else feel the same way?"
 
Totally agree! Hybrids feel way punchier than the specs say, that electric boost is real! feels like there's more torque there for sure!

You're not the only one who feels that way. Although Ford claims the hybrid has a combined torque of 173 lb-ft, real-world tests indicate it could actually be around 200 lb-ft. The way the eCVT delivers power can really change things up, and it's pretty typical for automakers to play it safe by underestimating their numbers to steer clear of over-promising. Trust your instincts,they're probably right

Yeah, 100%. Ford's sandbagging, the hybrid pulls harder off the line than 173 lb-ft should. The eCVT masks it, but the torque's there and def wouldn't be shocked if real numbers are closer to 190–200. They're just playing it safe on paper.
 
Hybrids feel punchier because the electric motor delivers instant torque and while it's not like a supra from hell, it can feel snappy. With that said, it's no secret that manufacturers often outline lower figures than the realistic ones, so I'd like to see a maverick hybrid on a dyno, not just for the numbers, but I also want to see the curve
 
Can totally relate.. Ford prolly downplays the hybrid's torque to be safe, but it definitely feels stronger than 173lb-ft. I wouldn't be shocked if it's closer to 200 like you said, it's pretty common for carmakers to lowball numbers.

Yeah, my Maverick hybrid surprises me about the pedal every damn time. The low-end pull feels way stronger than the numbers suggest. I think everyone here would agree.
