Question about the hybrid

Considering getting the hybrid mainly because of the mpg numbers, but I have two questions about it. What are the real world numbers and how does the battery handle colde temps. I'm sure it won't be as good as in summer, but how big of a difference should I expect?

In my experience, hybrids still save fuel in winter, but expect a noticeable drop...usually 10–20% lower MPG. Cold generally slows the battery, so the engine runs more, and cabin heat eats extra energy
