Engine noise at low power

I've got a 2024 Maverick Lariat Hybrid, with 2200 miles. Lately, I've noticed something a bit off with the engine. When the ICE kicks on, especially at lower power demands, gauge around 20-30%, it sounds a lot louder and rougher than I remember, almost like when I'd really stomp on the gas before. Usually, it's a super subtle hum. I understand the computer handles when the engine engages, and it still shuts off at traffic lights, which makes me think the battery's fine and it's not aggressively recharging. But this new noise is definitely noticeable.

Has anyone else with a 2024 hybrid Lariat experienced a similar change in engine sound at lower power inputs? Wondering if this is just a normal quirky hybrid behavior or something worth getting checked out. Thanks!

Yeah, that does sound a bit off, mine's around the same mileage and the ICE is still smooth on light throttle, if it's noticeably louder or rougher than before, it might be worth having them check engine mounts or software updates, some hybrids get calibration tweaks early on, could also be a sign it's running a regen cycle more often than usual

Might be normal hybrid quirks, but maybe worth checking for a pending PCM update or even a loose heat shield.

For a brand-new hybrid, that kind of rough engine engagement at light throttle shouldn't be brushed off as normal. These systems are supposed to be seamless. If it's noticeably louder, something's off, it could be software, mounts, or even fuel mapping.

Its not uncommon for the ICE in hybrids to get a bit louder over time, especially as the engine breaks in or if the weather's changed. That said, if it suddenly sounds rougher than usual at low loads , it might be worth getting it checked just to be safe. Some owners have reported similar noise changes tied to software updates or even low-grade fuel. Have you noticed any changes in performance or fuel economy along with the sound?
