The Hybrid is not a standard machine for 2025!

I was just looking at the website where we can build our car online. I noticed that the regular, default engine is the 2.0 Ecoboost (a type of gas engine).

I thought that when the 2025 model was first announced, they said the 2.5 hybrid would be the standard engine.

Am I remembering that wrong?

It's also annoying that the hybrid engine, which used to be the basic one, now costs an extra $1750 (whaat?!). Isn't it supposed to be normal, but now it's an expensive upgrade?

You're right about the 2.0 EcoBoost becoming the default engine in 2024 and 2025. The 2.5 Hybrid is still the standard for many trims, but Ford's website shows EcoBoost first unless you pick the hybrid option.

It does feel like the hybrid is now more of a premium choice. The latest prices show it's about $1,200 to $1,750 more than the EcoBoost with AWD after adding options. That's quite a jump since it used to be the base option.

It's definitely a change from the early days of the Maverick. Have you checked the dealer site to compare prices for hybrid AWD versus EcoBoost AWD?

Maybe tariffs are making hybrid battery more expensive?
